Thread: Sounder for inflatable

    Sounder for inflatable

Just bought a sevylor Colorado and am thinking of ways to kit it out.

First up the sounder..................I was looking at portables, mainly to avoid the need for a hefty battery in there so has anyone got any tips on transducer mounting on inflatables or on the portables?

I looked at the humminbird buddy and thought, as it's a two seater that will mainly only carry me, I could mount a board to clamp the buddy onto, although I'm not too keen on the idea. Also (I'm dead thick where electrics are concerned) if I don't go the portable route, am I correct in thinking two 6V lantern batteries can be used to power the non-portable ones?

I'd be grateful for any advice or tips on your setups.

Thanks choppa. I'll have to figure out battery problems first. Don't want a heavy battery in the yak.

Long time no hear/see. I've been off the forum for a while. Have you still got the batmobile? Call in any time mate..............I'm in most of the time tending to fishroom.

Some of the humminbird portable sounders simply use AA batteries, which sit in a bay under the sounder head. Thus reducing the need to have big external batteries. I had one of these in the old Rosco canoe. The sounder came with a transducer which attached via a suction-cup, which worked great.

Thanks Pete. I looked at those but I'm not too sure that they'd shoot through an inflatable floor?
