HandHeld Radio Advice

Hi guys
Looking at buying a hand held vhf and was after advice on what features to look for,what makes a good radio from an ordinary one? if that makes sense

Not enough info supplied for anyone to advise.
1. Do you intend this to be your primary device for emergency or just local chatter.
2. Roughly how far do you get from those you will need to contact for emergency.
3. What is the terrain like in the area ?

Have a look at the "cobra" brand of waterproof VHF hand helds I keep one charged and in my emergency grab bag on deck and within reach. Try Cabela's for flea bay for prices.

Make sure it is water proof, Some are Water resistant but in the Salt they corrode way too quickly.
Dont cheap out on one, u may regret it one day.
