pretty sure it was inc.
Well I went for a drive in one today and have to say I am pretty much sold - very impressive vehicle. Hilux needs a major upgrade after looking at both. Once this lease on the Prado is up it will be one of these or the new gen DMax.
I don't know what the new ones are like but the previous model had a very annoying habit.
When you are in drive and take you foot off it just goes into coast mode, I never noticed this when I test drove one but I find it annoying.
The write up seems positive from Bill Buys if anyone knows his work? He claims its 9/10ths the size of an F150?
Interesting price range, 19,7K for petrol 2.5lt single cab chasis up to 59,390 for dual cab Wildtrak 3.2 lt diesel auto (presumably 6 sp )
Is the battery charging on deceleration ie coast mode what you're talking about Bros?
Cheers

What could go wrong.......................
Nothing to do with the battery just that when you take your foot off the throttle the vehicle just coasts along with no engine braking. Engine braking is in the selected gears but not drive. Takes a bit of getting used to when coming up to traffic lights. I personally don't like it.
Slowing down! Thats probably what the brake is for Eeh?

The more I look at these, the more I like 'em.
Won't go fancy with a wildtrack etc as mine will be a work truck.
I still reckon I can get one for about $45 on the road.
that'd be the XL PX. manual d/cab 6 spd 3.2 TD

After being a Toyota boy for a while now I was anticipating the release of the new Ranger. My brother has the last model and I was quite impressed. It was him that told me to wait for the new one. I haven't driven one yet just looked over and under it, but assuming it doesn't drive like a dog, I can't see why anyone with their heads screwed on straight would but a Toyota Hilux over this machine. For me EASILY the best dual cab ute on the market. Makes the Hilux look like a soft roader. Great Tow Cap, Payload, great looking, dif locks, great clearance (best in category). I liked the Amarock until I saw this. Toyota has a LOT of soul searching to do.
Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.
This is the locally designed (half a bill budget) baby. I am assuming the auto is the 6 speed ZF courtesy of Falcon/Territory etc. As long as it is serviced and not 'sealed for life...' the auto should be the pick of the 2 trans. This truck is getting very good reviews and it would be the most luxo thing with a tray around. Great to see.
Cheers
Boat: Seafarer Vagabond
Live: Great South East....love Moreton Bay fishing
Just went and had a peek at two.
PX XL and the XLT.
Couple of things that disappointed me.
Tow bar is W A Y T O O low. and, believe it or not, the trailer plug is mounted on the bottom of the tow bar.... the friggin lowest point of the whole car is this plug... ! what were they thinking ??
Next, the travel in the front end is about 50mm, maybe less I reckon. Bumpstops above the wishbone ????
Then we have these funny , low hanging rear shockie mounting brackets, just hanging down waiting to be collected by tree stumps or boulders. Also, the rear shockies at top are mounted on a horizontal spicket off the chassis....... fragile IMO.
I have now been over the specs of a few vehicles.
The RX D40 nissan has 23nm torque more, a wider front and rear wheel track and a wheel base of 20mm less than the Ranger. Nissan also has a bigger fuel tank. Nissan has a 2.5ltr engine and is $5,000 cheaper off the rack.
Colorado has 20nm less torque, 27Kw less, better fuel economy, bigger fuel tank, but overall a smaller vehicle at $3,000 less than a Ranger, off the rack.OH, and no cruise control as standard.
I also looked at the Mazda, D-Max, Amarok and Triton.................. but really, more of the same.
Overall, if you are looking for a work truck, the Ranger is the one you want. Next in line would be the Colorado IMO.
The big pluses for me in the Ranger are :-
Tow.............3.350ton
payload...... 1132kgs
standard cruise control
147kw and 380nm.
Things to change if I buy one:-
upsize the fuel tank
remove tub and install alloy tray
set tow bar high and shift stupid placement of tow wiring / plug.
lift the vehicle to get at least 90 - 100mm travel in the front end.
remove front bumper and install ARB winch compatible bar
tinted windows.
I also need to find out what that dicky little cooler is sitting under the rear wheel arch ????
Having said all that, it is an Aussie desgined vehicle and in these financially delicate times, I am pro-active in attempting to purchase as much Aussie stuff as possible.
OH, my comparisons were done on equal vehicles.
dual cab, diesel, 4 x 4 manuals... base models....................................
OK< choppa.............. now we need to talk turkey.
cheers LP
