    Tinnaroo Barra

    Hi all,

Managed to get up to Tinnaroo for 3 nights from the 8th - so good to be back in FNQ even if it was only for a few days. Tinnaroo lived up to my expectations by producing 5 fish with 3 boated. Biggest went a fat and heavy 87cm, 67cm and a 60cm. My brother lost a big fish of at least 120cm which threw a slick rig after about 6 impressive jumps. 2 were caught using 15+ Classic Barras (red head / black body) -1 trolling, 1 casting. The other fell on a Slick Rig drop bear colour using the text book slick rig retrieve.

Water temp varied slightly from 20 - 23 degrees, and concentrated on one point where bait was visible both on the sounder and on the surface. Fished at the 15 foot mark casting into the shallows, on a windward bank.

Fishing time was limited due to family commitments and 2 kids under the age of 3; but fished late arvo and early morning to get quick results. Given the opportunity to fish all day and night reckon the results would have been awesome! Also bagged 25 big redclaw fishing the bay opposite Platypus Campground.

    Regards,

    Richo

We got lucky, they had a week of warm weather before we got there, Saturday the SE wind kicked in and we froze that night. Bite was good before the weather change.
