Thread: Australia's most popular Fish

    Re: Australia's most popular Fish

It would have to be snapper and flathead....

    Re: Australia's most popular Fish

I voted for a Barra as I think every fisherman wants to catch one barra, mainly to cross it off their list!
But the fish I most go for is a flathead as they are easily caught in many places with limited fishing knowledge!

For me nothing beats fishing on the edge of a reef with an 80lb handline and getting whacked big time and after the battle you pull up two 3kg strawberry coral trout. They just look so magnificent in the sunlight when they first come up. And they taste soooooo Good.

Is there anything better than hearing the heavy scream of an 80W going nuts and a 500lb Blue Marlin turning the water to froth for nearly 1km as you madly try to clear the deck.

Has to be bill fish - and big ones.

Barra are just so exciting to catch. Hit hard, fight well, jump, taste great and release well. Although being new to Brissie I cant wait to get into some flat head

I have caught and eaten most of the fish on the list but in my opinion the Mangrove jack beats them all.

then you havent had Bar Cod, which is my pick,
    also not on the list

where are the deep water fish???
