    Fishon and marine U.S.

Not sure if you guys know this but i coppied this from the fishon site
Most manufacturers will allow you to return your unit to the US for warranty service but we just learned that Lowrance and Eagle will not. Effectively if you purchase either of these brands you do so with the knowledge that you have no warranty.
Because Northstar is owned by the same company that owns Lowrance and Eagle it is very possible you may have no warranty. As far as we know Furuno, Raymarine, Garmin, and other manufacturers will allow you to return the unit to the US for service.

Easily sidetracked by using a forwarding agent such as shipito but will cost you an extra $8 for handling charges.

Gday Ray ,thats a good bit of info ,Thanks for that.

Just got this email back from Pat at fishon.

The warranty for Humminbird is US only. Humminbird will not repair a unit sent from Australia and they will not ship it back to Australia. As a service to our customers you can ship the item to us and we will forward it to humminbird for service. When Humminbird returns the unit to us we will send it back to you. You would be responsible for any and all shipping charges.

Some other things to keep in mind about purchasing Humminbird in the US. You cannot use metric units. Everything is in imperial units and cannot be changed. If you need detailed marine charts for Australia you would need to purchase Navionics Gold Chart 32XG/SD for $259.95 USD. You may receive a message on your gps screen saying that you are no longer in US waters and that the gps might not function properly. This is called geo fencing and they do it to protect their overseas dealers. The message doesnt affect anything but you cant get it off of there.

We do not offer extended warranties that would work in Australia.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

    Thanks,
    Pat Huffman
