    Furuno FCV 620 hands down in my view.

    For a little over $1500 you would get a Furuno 585 with 600kw tranny from the US, easily one of the best sounders on the market.

    Otherwise the 620 and upgrade to a 1kw transducer.

    Totaly agree....FCV 585 with either 600w or 1Kw transducer from the states.I got mine with a 1Kw transom mount TX for not too much more than your budget.

    Agree with above but if you have a Quintrex be careful as the transducer may not be able to get clean water and you'll struggle to get signal above 5 knots!

    The Furuno 585 is a great bit of kit. I have dealt with Scuba Steves Marine Outlet on several occasions and have found them to be great to deal with

    I bought my Furuno FCV 585 and 1kw trannie from shopepal in the states.

    What boat is it going in & what fishing do you do mostly ?

    I would not be with out my Lowrance HDS8 with Structure Scan ...
