Nice going there Damo, sure beats sitting at home mate. You would have to be happy with that,no reds though?
Well done.

Well 12 of us headed out of the Noosa River at 4am this morning bound for DI. We were aboard Trekka 2 from Fishing Offshore Noosa a mob we had been with several times before.
The skipper got us over the bar with the minimum of fuss and we were on our way to DI in reasonable conditions still blowin around 15knts. 2 hrs later and we had some 20 – 25kts whip up and the last 10 miles took about another 1hr to our destination. We persisted in the 20-25kts as the forecast was to get better which it did. Current was fishable with ¾oz – 1oz jig heads getting down to 50m.
Once there our baits (Mullet & Pillies) and placcies were deployed some 14 miles NE/E of the DI lighthouse. Fishing at first was slow with a steady mix of fish coming on board. A few nice Snappery squire were cleaned up with placcies after a couple of moves. Our 3rd spot was the most productive with 5 snapper in the mid 70cms to mid 80cm coming on board along with a mixed bag. Mixed bag included a few Trag, Pearlies, Mosses Perch, Tuskies, Mori Cod, a Cobia, a couple of Murwong and around 20 undersized juvenile reds along with countless juvenile squire and pearlies. We ended up taking home 58 fish which equates to around 5 keepers each not a bad days fishing.
Bait Vs placcie catches of snapper / squire were split 50/50. Best bait was mullet and the Lime Tiger 7inch gulp the pick of placcie colours. 7 Inch Tandori Chicken, Nuke Chook and Pilchard placcies worked well, the key was to use just enough weight to get to the bottom. Lunch to early afternoon was slow going as well but the swell and wind had dropped which saw us back in 2 hrs as opposed to the 3 hrs it had taken us to get out.
The guys at Fishing Offshore Noosa again looked after us and we are looking forward to next year’s trip.
