Dunno mate , why did you quote "Global" tonnage to piss on Oz efforts of "pollution" control
Thankyou for all the dislikes Gazza.
Why would i care globally, about Global Warming?
Dunno mate , why did you quote "Global" tonnage to piss on Oz efforts of "pollution" control
probably because you believe like me "global warming" or CAGW is a huge beat-up to scam trillions of dollars from developed economies like ours to either waste on BS uneconomic green energy projects or blow via socialist wealth redistribution dressed up as welfare and compensation
whichever way you look at it crippling our economy by loading the cost of especially manufacturing and power generation in the name of a global battle to save the planet at a time when we should be supporting it is an absolute disgrace
have a look at how wonderfully an ETS is working in Europe
Gazza, thankyou for acknowledging that, from an evironmental perspective, our efforts are piss weak and will make no difference to Global Warming. However the cost is in the billions of dollars.
Lampy , so the Oz Carbon Tax will reduce Oz output by 0.00053533% , I think you lieSo that makes Australia’s CO2 reduction 0.00053533%" from the link in my previous post.
Firstly, it wasnt my statement. Secondly, the statement is accurate.
"The Carbon Tax aims to reduce Australia’s CO2 output by 160 million tonnes. World CO2 emissions in 2008 were 29,888,121 million tonnes.
So that makes Australia’s CO2 reduction 0.00053533%"
how many decimal places do you need?? all a huge waste of time and effort - just shifting money around for no appreciable benefit
Hello again Lampuki ,
As a result of a free market economy.
As I stated in my original reply to Mark R's. OP electricity rises due to privatization & I know which side of politics has the mantra " privatize , private companies are more efficient & will produce cheaper prices ". Seem to recall the SGIO & maybe nostalgia is clouding my memory but I don't recall the plethora of fees , million dollar pay packets & multimillion dollar bonuses at the " old " Commonwealth bank.
Cheers Kevin
Who privatised SGIO? and didnt SGIO --> Suncorp, not comm.
BTW, by selling off comm, the government lost its most powerful way to control interest rates, so i do take your point but....
the Totalisator Agency Board (1999); the Dalrymple Bay coal loader (2001); the retail arms of the Energex and Ergon electricity companies (2006); the Golden Casket state lottery agency (2007); Cairns, Mackay and Brisbane airports (2008)....
Port of Brisbane, Queensland Motorways, Forestry Plantations Queensland, Queensland Rail’s coal business and the Abbot Point coal terminal in the state’s north.
I do understand what you are saying, however, what's left to sell? Actions speak louder than words, it appears ALP is following the privatisation mantra pretty strongly.
Anyhow, back to the topic thread....what was that again? Carbon Tax.....yeah, stupid idea
