    Monday Night off Cairns

Just had a good trip out wide off Cairns Monday on calmest sea Ive seen in a while. A good catch of 5 Red Emperor, Large Mouth Nannygai, Long Nose & Spangled Emporer, Jacks , one Rosy Job fish etc. 35 good fish. Best run was at daylight till sun up, and we scratched the rest up thru the night. Best fish was one Red which was 8 kg .

Last pics are of two stages of a glorious sunrise which we enjoyed greatly

    Cheers
    John

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

Good stuff John, nice to see you getting into a few. Nice sunrise, too. Good to see some fish in a boat, most people I've been talking to have had shark issues still. I just haven't been yet so I'm not sure what's the go. Looking forward to heading out there soon.

Had only one shark episode at first light, so apart from losing 2 good fish to that one we had a good run.
Nothing more debilitating than getting bitten off constantly, as you know they only eat top shelf.

That's exactly right, the seem to like the reds and trout, not so much the spangles unfortunately.
