The difference is the handle. The carbon knob on the JDM is very expensive.
I guarantee you the reel body, drag, spool etc are all the same. No need to spend up on the JDM version.
Just wondering if someone in the know can shed some light on how the japan & USA stella SW reels differ. I presume the jap models are better as they cost more, but considering it's a price difference of several hundred dollars I'm unsure if it's worth paying the extra dosh.
cheers

Yeah the carbon handle on models up to SW8000 I think is the only difference and they offer a few different reel sizes and ratios.

I have two JDM SW6000's one HG and one PG, they are a 5000 size reel with a bigger spool, the PG is excellent for plastics with the lower gear ratio and the HG excellent for spinning.
Its cheaper to buy the JDM model than to buy the US/AUD model then buy the bigger spool and handle, all depends what you want I guess. I got mine through reelsseller on ebay,

Thanks for those replies. I'm looking on ebay at an SW10000 and notice the US models are significantly cheaper, so if that's the only difference it's an easy choice to make.
