    RBW 2010 Roundup.

Saturday and Sunday 4th and 5th December.

A huge thank you to Stuart for his attendance and tuition to the rod builders in attendace. I will try and name them all but cannot remember their screen names: Phill, Scott, Dazza, Ian, Mark, Paul, John, Adrian, Dave and Graham.

Stuart started the day off and got proceedings under way. As each person was at different levels of rod building Stuart would assist with each relevant task people were trying to do.

Scott turned up a bit late..he saw a garage sale sign..had to go in. He did buy a fishing rod for $2..stripped the guides and re bound them..this will be going to the kids fishing grear next year.

Various discussion were being held and for some it was head down and into it.

I think that all that attended learnt quite a bit and had an enjoyable weekend.

Some of the work these guys put in on their rods is incredible..the colours and designs etc.

This is the rod Adrian was building:

I think I have this onecorrect..John's rod but work by Adrian:

someone always have to shove their finger in the way:

This is the work Dave had done prior to arriving for the weekend..very nice indeed:

Last but definitely not least is the work Stuart has done on his own rod..amazing piece of work:

Greg and Sue - thanks so much for making your home available for this event again, and putting on a great feed

Stu - thanks for your assistance, and for bumping my blank at various times I'm gonna blame all those fuzzies on you now.

It was great catching up with everyone, great bunch of guys. Looking forward to the next one!

    Tight Wraps!

Looks like a great weekend had by all. Like Owen, it would have been great to have been there. It's great to see so much interest in building your own rods.

Stu for sharing his knowledge on building rods.
Dosn't matter how much you think you know you always learn some new tricks at these weekends.
    Bring on the next one.

    Re: RBW 2010 Roundup.

It was another successful rod building weekend. Huge thank you to Sue and Greg, they certainly put a huge effort into these weekends. Thanks to all the guys that showed up, I hope you had a great time and learnt a few things along the way. I always look forward to these weekends as they are a heap of fun.

On a side note, I was a bit pissed along with a few others at those that didn’t show and didn’t let anyone know. Sue and Greg buy the meat for the Barbie in advance based on confirmed numbers, when guys don’t turn up the cost goes up. Tables and chairs have to be organized to cater for all the guys so when you’re a no show it seems a big effort for bugger all. Apart from that I can wait for the next one.

Not sure if it was the case or not but there may also have been others that would have liked to come along and may have been on a stand-by list.

    Re: RBW 2010 Roundup.

The posts are a genuine expression of gratitute to the hosts Greg and Sue, and to the more experienced who helped the beginners.
The list of members there , hopefully, has been received by Phill, in case further contact with fellow participants is needed, I have the original if you need info.

Greg's camera skills summed up some of the efforts. If we can do this in the rainy weather just think of how we'd go in fine weather.

    Thanks again John.

    Re: RBW 2010 Roundup.

I'm so sorry guys, haven't been on in a bit and was thinking it was on this coming weekend.

It was totally my doing and I know of the efforts others had put into this weekend. I would also like to say sorry to the people that were wanting to come along but missed out because of the numbers. I really do feel like such an ass.

Once again apologies to all, I will understand if I'm not welcome the next time it's on. I hope those that did show had a good time and learn't a little more.

    Dave
    Avast ye matey!
