    Fire extinguisher/Blanket AND Extinguishing Aerosol??

During the process of looking for a Fire Blanket (1.5m x 1.5 m at least) for our 1/2 cabin, was shown a device that was developed for remote switchboards etc and has potential for outboard motors as well.

Imagine a little candle in a 50mm wide by 15mm deep tin with a 30mm wick, this unit is place (screwed?) into the outboard motor housing, any fire under the covers, lights the wick which releases an aerosol gas to put the fire out suitable for Fire classes A,B and E.

    Called Ultmex FP-8

    Comments appreciated.

I realise my 1Kg extinguisher in case of a o/b motor fire would be next to useless , especially if there is any wind around. But it makes the boat legal of course so it serve a purpose.

I am some how a bit sceptical about something that requires the wick to be lit.......One would hope to get at it a bit quicker than that.

As for your 1KG.... you would be surprised what they will knock down.....even more so how far 1KG of powder spreads.

Hell they only cost $20-25 whay not have two.

    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.
