Very good yabbies on the banks around shag island which is just south of Toorbul opposite Whitepatch. The best area is just north of the mangroves of the island itself

Drive as far as you can north along the Esplanade and there's plenty on the banks out from there. Also when you 1st get to the T intersection at Torbul, turn right away from the water then left down Delisser Ave (yes I didn't believe it either) and head to the end, there're good yabbie banks here also.

I use to live on bribie and there are plenty of yabbies on offer. Head as far north as the road follows on the west side of the island. Look for any snags in the sand/mud on low tide and you'll pick up 4-5 each pump. Awesome bait there for whiting, bream, sea perch and the odd flatty when slowly retrieving. Best tip is to use them on a long shank with a barb with the tip protruding just under the belly.
