    Trailer & Boat Theft

    Hi All

A life insurance broker told me that insurance companies have so much infomation that they can work out how much of a risk you are before your doctor, specialist, etc..

Knowing that I suppose, my boat insurance company will not cover me if my trailer is locked with a padlock or padlock/chain. It has to be a propriety purchased locking mechanism.

I would assume that from their records a major number of stolen boats have a normal padlock/chain deterent.

Still a sad state of affairs.

    Cheers

It sucks big time doesn't it.
You work hard to get fun toys then have to work harder to pay to keep the toys in your possession otherwise some lowlife who thinks he has more right to them than you will take them off you. Then you have to pay again to an insurance Co. incase said lowlife does pinch it you are covered.
Reckon the best idea would be to use the boat as a dog house for a massive Hooch dog(ala, Turner and Hooch). Pity the fool who trys to steal the boat then.

I would hope a coupling lock over your towball and around your trailer would be good enough at the ramp for them to cover you

I am with Suncorp and same rules. Has to be a proper trailer lock.

I also have a lock on the goose neck, because without that, all they need to do is disconnect the gooseneck, slot it into their gooseneck slot, and drive away with teh trailer lock still connected.
