    Lismore fishing

    Hi all,

I'll be spending a few days in Lismore soon.

Any decent places to wet a line in Lismore, will be back based & using lures.

    Thanks in advance

Jesus i have lived in this area for over 30 years and for the life of me cannot think of a decent place to fish in Lismore. I am sure there are some but i do my best avoiding that town.

Some others here may be able to help more with fresh water targets but i would head to the coast and chase something there. If you wanted to get down to ballina i can give you some general info.

    Re: Lismore fishing

The boat ramp was a good spot for sharks as was Sandy Point out on the Casino road a bit.
I used to go perch fishing up some of the smaller creeks but gees that was a while ago.
Best bet is to go to Ballina or Evans. Both about 3/4hr comfortable drive or bus.

When I was a kid we used to catch gar at the boat ramp or off the butter factory jetty and then we'd take them to Sid Elficks shop in Whyralla road to sell for 2c each.
He'd just have a slate for us so we could go and get some new line or hooks or what-ever and we eventually worked it out with the gar.
By crikey I miss the innocence of those days.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

    Re: Lismore fishing

Was flathead under the bridge when I was a kid
We use to make our own lures and troll them on the back of the cream boat on its way to Coraki
Now that was not very recent but!!!!!!

Perch over the back of the mill beside the cricket ground, do not think the mill is even there now?

My Dad even in his retirement still bags out in Flathead using lures in Ballina, suggest you go there

    cheers

I visit Lismore a bit for work, anyone I've ever spoke to there or overheard talking about fishing is in relation to Ballina....

Will have to agree with the Ballina suggestion. Lived in Lismore for work back in 1991 and would go to Ballina regularly and fish the co-op jetty. There was an old bloke who'd fish with whole cooked king prawns, the big bream loved them and they were too tough for the tiddlers to make a mess of quickly too.
