$1500-$2500 Sounder/GPS combo?

Although I can see all the benefits of the stand alone units I've fished on half a dozen boats the last few months and they all had combos. One h'bird the rest lowrance so the combos are still popular and defy some logic I guess.

I agree that two units is the way to go, but if you have your heart set on a combo unit then Whitworths have the Garmin 4012 (12" screen) for $2799, plus chart. I don't know how good the sounder is but have used the 4008 (same unit as the 4012, just in an 8.5" screen) as a GPS with the G2 vision chart and was very happy with it.

We like to think that the Garmin and Lowrance units are the best in this price range.
