2010 Barra Tour
As posted on the ABT Web site by Matt Fraser
Righto Barra anglers, here comes a big backflip!
Due to angler’s responses, many of the proposed ideas for the 2010 tour are now shelved until 2011.
This is mainly due to lack of time for anglers to adjust to the proposed changes, or re-arrange leave and tournament schedules at short notice.
After meeting with Steve and Simon today, the new plan for 2010 is as follows;
DIAWA BARRA TOUR - The full barra tour will happen from the 12th to 27th November. Five qualifying events. All qualifying events will be teams events. Prizes will be awarded based on team results, not individuals. AOY and ranking points will still accumulate individually for AOY trophies, but no cash prizes for individuals.
Session Formats - Some events will be 2 sessions with a 5 fish limit (as per previous years). We will be introducing 3 x3 Events, which will be 3 sessions (Morning, Evening, Morning or vice versa) with a 3 Fish limit (3x3). Teams limits will be 5 or 3 (not 10 or 6) to make a limit more achievable and competition tighter and more exciting.

Peter Faust 3x3 Championships – 3 Fish Limit per session
Tues 16th Nov, 3pm -9pm

Tuesday 23rd Nov – 4 – 11pm
Monduran Afternoon Championships – 5 Fish limit per session
Friday 26th Nov, 11.30 am – 6.30pm
Saturday 27th Nov 11.30 am – 6.30pm
The BARRA Grand Final will be held in February 2011. It will be a Boater/Non Boater event – Shared weight. Top 30 in AOY will fish as Boaters for cash prizes, next 30 AOY will fish as non-boaters for product prizes. Being a shared- weigh events encourages anglers to fish as a team to increase both anglers results.
BARRA TROPHY EVENTS
There will be two Barra Trophy Events in 2010. No AOY qualification or ranking points involved. The aim of these events is to encourage more barra anglers to come and have a go at barra tournaments. They will be testing angler’s skills at different times of the year, and testing the 3x3 format. The Mondy Trophy will occur in April, and the Awoonga Trophy in August at this stage.
I appreciate all the feedback and constructive comments that have been put forward. I hope that this schedule is more barra angler friendly for 2010.
Cheers,
Matt Fraser
