    Gunwhale cracks/crazing/spidering

    Hi guys

I am looking at buying a seafarer, early 2000's model. When I went to look at it it had a bit of crazing (fine cracks) over the top on the gunwhales on both sides at the back. Could this be from people perchng themselves here? Is this a common problem, cosmetic, easily repaired or something more sinister?

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Pics if you have them will tell the story it's pretty easy given the experience to assume if the spider cracks are structural in cause or cosmetic as they can be either and of coarse depending on their location.

    cheers fnq

gel coat is suppose to flex...too much (as in too thick) and no quality control and it cracks instead of flex, being on the gunnel i would say maybe someone walking around that as caused some cosmetic cracks, 98% sure but would have to see photos first

Assuming that it is cosmetic, those seararers were built really well, then there could be a big reason for a big price reduction.

Suggest you seek input from Boatboy50 on this issue with the Seafarer. He may well know the boat.
