dont need them easy to get through just stay clear of the white water should be able to get through with out hitting any white water
just go up beside swan bay then head SE through the mouth cant miss it then pick the timing for going through the sand bar at the back of the bar you should have 15 to 20 ft at least under the boat right the way through
    good luck

    Sporty1,

Not a good idea to solely rely on GPS as the "safe channel" will depend on conditions. Usually, as Marxby says, the SE passage is the option, but dependent on wind and swell size a few days before (if there's been a big blow) it will not always be so clear cut.

Generally we use the SE passage but last time we were out the wind was from the N and we come back in the N side, because it was less wind affected and the waves were actually coming in across the face of the bar.

Other times weve been coming in and assessed the bar from outside. We couldn't see any whitewater in the centre but still come in the SE passage, but once inside the centre was ALL whitewater.

Be cautious and spend a few minutes prior to entering the bar and you'll see the best passage on the day.....

    Cheers Sabre
