A PRAWN trawling company has been fined $15,000 for fishing without a licence off Weipa in the biggest fine given for the offence to an Australian vessel.

yeah they would be laughing at that. They should confiscate their boat for 3 months for a first offence.

Sounds like a admin style error otherwise I think they would have gone for a lot more $. That said it is the responsibility of teh master to have copies on board and to check them so ( well used to be) not sure what the excuse or reason would be and I wonder if he ha shad to rebuy a lic ??
