When I fish the beach I always check the Surf Cam website to see the swell in real time. There's also a weather report there for the region, mostly focused on wind predictions, (which is the most important factor anyway). Surf Cams cover lots of the Gold Coast; Surfers, Palm Beach, Broadbeach etc. etc.

...and I'll let you in on a little secret. Although most Coastal Patrols/Coast Guards get a weather report from the BOM, they also do the local ones themselves -- like for the local radio stations. Wanna know how they do it? They look out the window.

You will never get 100% when weather is a prediction

found it to be pretty close most of the time though.

Buoyweather.com is good, subscribe for a 7 day forcast that is fairly accurate out to the 7th day or another one is windfinder.com this also gives a 7 day forcast but is free. As someone else mentioned seabreeze.com is ok as well. I use all 3 along with BOM and average them out this gives a fair idea whats going on.

I use Seabreeze and also this Wind Map on BOM which gives a seven day forecast, shows the wind strength in colours and also wind direction. I find it extremely accurate. Here's the link. Just click on the area on the map of Australia to zoom in. For 1 and 2 day forecast you can zoom in even further for some areas, especially SE QLD.

    +1 for Seabreeze.

Predicting weather is the only job you can f**k up about 50% of the time and still be employed!!! I find seabreeze to be more accurate than BoM.

Re: Best Site For Weather Reports?

I find all the comments about seabreeze mildly amusing as it has and will continue to let you down! It is an INSHORE forecast and was designed for windsurfers, i always have a peek at seabreeze as it's very good for observing trends and which way the change will come from but i always use BOM as the deciding factor!

    for example,

Bom says the forecast is 15 to 20 knots between the Tweed and Di ( a very large area) and Seabreeze says that on the Tweed it will be blowing 20knots but at Di it will only be blowing 10 knots in the morning but increasing during the day to 20 knots. This tells me the change is moving nth and if i want to go for a fish off Noosa the morning session should be fine , but i would have my vhf on and listen to the forecasts and observations during the day and when the change gets close pull the pick and come in.

We are so lucky these days to have so much info at our hands and with just a few key strokes we can have heaps of info easily available and it's just a matter of putting it all together to get the big picture , this is the secret!!!!!

A quick search of Ausfish produced these threads for those that think Seabreeze is the best!!!

Ps why dont we do our own experiment pick a day and put up all the forecasts and see who is closer? Just remember that Boms is over a vast range so it might be good to use all of the moreton bay forecasts!
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

Re: Best Site For Weather Reports?

We fish wide off Southport and tend to check s few sites before we hit the water - coastwatch, BoM and sea breeze.

We have found seabreeze best and easiest to use. Here is link to chart for the Gold Coast.

This is my link for Peel Island weather -

    http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/p...nd_moreton_bay

For me windfinder is far more accurate than seabreeze, Elders or BOM...
