Just curious if anyone knows why moreton bay in google maps is now smudged out? there used to be heaps of terrain detail. Or is it something to to with my map settings?
Yeah I've noticed this too, they've been this way for a few months now since I last updated Google Earth. Haven't played around with any settings but it is a little odd that all detail of Moreton Bay has been removed from about half a kilometer off any shoreline.

Yeah, it looks like some authority has asked google to not show any detail in that area.
Perhaps their last scan of the area was when the oil slick was everywhere?
Go into VIEW then tick HISTORICAL IMAGERY, this will provide you with a slider bar thing that you can go back and forth through old images of Moreton Bay.
