Live Baits, best methods etc

Starting a general thread on Live Baits.. Im looking at fishing off the rocks but am keen to get any more info on obtaining live baits, Different species and what fish like eating them? how to keep them alive? Any input would be good.

Cast netting is the best method for obtaining these baitfish ie, mullet, hardy head, herring (sprat), whiting etc. for more serious bait fish like scad, jigging is the way to go.

keep them alive in a bait bucket placed in the water, if your fishing from rocks or surf, try putting them in a small esky with a battery operated airater.

Most fish worth catching will take just about all of these baitfish, it's how you present your bait that will make the difference ie, unweighted, weighted, floated etc.

hay mate first off i use a mixture of bread crums an tuna oil to get the livies to come around an use either a jig or bread under a floatto catch them.if your livies are big enough or you want to keep them alive for along period of time use kiddies blow up pool with at least 2air pumps an keep the water fresh buy changing it at least every half hour an keep it in the shade so the water dose'nt warm up
