What part of Brisbane downie? Land based or boat?
If you are on the North side then places like deep water bend & Dohles rocks would be fine for land based, plus there are boat ramps at both locations.

Downie...you probably wont get the bass you are used to getting in the creeks up here...though they are there...but you will get MJ's...bigger and meaner...similar techniques and habitats....you wont regret your move. You may have to upgrade your tackle though (not by much)...and dont try a lip grip on them hehehe.

I mostly fish from the banks above tidal limits, usually too small to fit my kayak. Just looking for similar accesible creeks. Do the MJs live in fresh water too?

Upper reaches of the Brissy River has bass. North Pine Dam would be worth a look.
