I have been carrying on a bit of a campaign as a result of a couple of local monthly fishing mags advocating the targeting of bass during the closed season. Prior to the latest upgrade of the act it was specifically mentioned it was illegal to target bass during closed season, but this clause was omitted in the last upgrade.
I have written to Deedi and also the editors of both mags.
Today I got this email from Steve Booth the editor of QFM.

Thanks for the info but in future we have decided it is better off not promoting the capture of any species under closed season – regardless of the wording in the act.

Thanks for the vigilance.

Just goes to show that a little persistence pays off.now all I have to do is to get the wording of the act changed.

Also got the latest edition and just had a quick scan and see that a article on northern NSW mentions the closed season and also another article on the Wyaralong dam plus stories on Somerset bass and redclaw. Looks like a really good edition.
Cheers
