The local upholsterer in Cleveland usually charges about $100 per seat but this is very variable dependant on the size and whether you need the foam and dacron also replaced as well as the vinyl.

If they have backs then you can double the price.

Toss in piping and two-colours up goes the price again.......

Maybe it cheaper to just buy new seats

you can buy new, good high back buckets for $199 each, I have been pricing them for my boat, I might be interested in buying your old ones if you want to change them.

I would prefer to keep the original seats if possible but the price might stop that??? I will get some quotes on monday.

To replace that seat with the modern day comparitive item (full wrap around, padded jobby) will set you back about $350 each. Assuming the foam is still good (tipping it will be!) then your up for some marine vinyl at about $20/mtr (54inch wide roll), a bit of piping, a staple gun and some staples.

Probably cost you about $50 in material(plus a staple gun and staples, ALDI have a staple gun on sale this week I think for $10) to redo the seats yourself. (plus whatever inducements are required to get the cheese and kisses to knock em up for you!!!!) Or learn to sew yourself. Its actualy pretty easy and I quite enjoy it. Shhhh...........

    Cheers

With you on that one BM, i reconditioned my relax chairs as the cost is to high to buy new ones but cheaper than getting someone to renew them. Just a quick question who sells that material ? As i just reused what i had.

seeing as my seats are all ratty, I might give it a go at doing them myself, for the sake of some materials, it can't hurt huh! better than forking out $400 when I am selling the boat anyway, as long as they come out OK that is. hey Krazy, you could sell me your old seats, and take that off the new ones and it will be cheaper that reupholstering. Does not seem to make sense when you can buy brand new for almost the same price as repair, the high back buckets like in my boat are only $199 each from Whitworths.

Re: How much to reupholster boat seats

I have a plan I am going to use vinyl die/paint on them to check if I am happy with the colour scheme???
than when I have decided on a colour I am going to try and cover them myself... by myself I mean my wife. I will direct and advise which I am sure will make things go smooth.

Re: How much to reupholster boat seats

I had my boat seats reupholstered for $125 each by Motatrim in Tweed Heads. Gordon does a top job and I couldnt recommend him more highly! My seats are the two-colour padded seats with piping, fully upholstered with removable bottom cushion and pocket in the rear. Gordon just copied the deteriorated ones that I had and used the existing foam i dont have a picture handy of them here at work but they look like brand new! A good deal considering new ones are about $400 for this type of seat!

He actually has a website now:
