This was my first Spanish Mackerel on popper caught on a R2S Dumbell 150 using the new Penn 950ssm and 30lb mono. I can't wait to target these speedsters in future after witnessing a 20kg+ spaniard launch 10ft out of the water (no bullsh!t) at a Hammerhead popper (although failing to hook-up) off Central Qld.

I had the same over in fiji recently.....Using a Cubera 125 a spaniard about 15kg launched about 6ft in the air.....Hit the popper but I missed the hook up...
P.S I bet you would love to be snipped by a spaniard using a hammerhead...

Im hoping to tick one off on a popper landbased this year. Have had 4 strikes so far but no connections. The arial strikes looked so cool that not hooking up didnt bother me at all. awsome stuff
