    Watch Out Bream

Hi all, today I bought myself a Starlo Stix Pro Tournament 2-4Kg for Breaming. Matching it with a Stradic 2500 and 10lb Castaway PE (In a few weeks). For the time being using my Exceller . Can't wait to bless this thing tomorrow night

10 lb braid for bream? Sounds a bit heavy to me mate, i would go 4lb at the most.
    Enjoy the new gear.

    Re: Watch Out Bream

Thanks guys, yeah Wags think it has . Thanks Rhys, I'll be using it today targetting some Cod in the wharfs so should be good. Hey Marty, Keechie told me the 4lb Fireline breaks at roughly 12lb and the Fireline is actually thicker than the 10lb Castaway according to Nic. I'll be checking it out once I purchase the reel later on.

    Re: Watch Out Bream

10lb castaway is about the same diameter as 2lb fireline.
though when using PE braid make sure u put it in a bucket of water befor winding it on, it can burn the line and cause it to break easily otherwise

    Re: Watch Out Bream

Sounds like a great little outfit & I'm certainly a fan of the Starlo tournament pro .
I'm a bit with the others on the line wt - 10lb could be considered as pretty heavy. 4-6lb should knock over most bream. If you are fishing heavy structure .... just up the drag because you'll still be well below the actual breaking strain of the braid.

    Re: Watch Out Bream

Good on ya mate,, hope that new outfit serves you well but I'm with the others, 4lb is the go. Thats what i use and that has landed me by catch like a 68cm flatty and a 65cm trev so it's plenty heavy enough for the bream. Look forward to the reports
    Cheers TT

    Re: Watch Out Bream

I took it back because of 2 reasons, one it wasn't whippy enough for plastic and hardbody work and two it's extremely hard to transport. Instead I got a much better rod in my eyes, Shimano Rack Raider 2-4kg 7foot 3 and it's a 2piece rod aswell . I think the Raiders are much better than the Starlo Stix Pro (I do now anyway)

    Re: Watch Out Bream

Prepare yourself Tom for endless wind knots with that 10lb castaway...

Do yourself a giant favour and buy yourself some 4lb fireline.
Trouble free and you save some considerable money.
