    Rapidly going down hill here!

How does one fish for Somerset Bass, are they point fish, weed edge, timber, open water schooling, trolling (did I say that, or just think it?)

All of those Brother.....The most successful way for me is find the School and mark it and drift back over it.....Tools of trade Sliders (Baby Bass color) attached to a 1/2oz Data Jig...if their on the chew you will nail them either on the way down or a slow roll off the bottom on the way back...won't hurt to smear a bit of encouragement on the Slider.....will discuss locations at a later date.....I use to start fishing for Bass at the end of September onwards.....we'll give it a shot in July
    Good Mates....Good Food.....Good Fishing....Priceless

    Brian,

Back in the days (like 2002 onwards)..we used to catch plenty in winter on the edges. Jackalls, spinnerbaits etc worked a treat. grassy edges, rockwalls and points.

Schooled fish like whitto said, 1/2 oz 3/8 oz jigheads, sliders, squdgies, ecogear....pick a colour any colour...find the schools and work them. Ice jigs worked too, so did hopping jackalls and mask vibs. WOW...there were heaps of ways.

Trolling works too (sorry Chris)...find the thermocline and suspended fish....its also a good way to scan around and find schooled fish.

Where are they???? we will find out...need someone to do some recon work!!!

    cheers Steve

What is this "ice jigging" that you all speak of? I am having visions of building a little shack on the ice, cutting a whole in the floor and fishing through it.
All I want is to catch MORE legal fish!
