Thread: Three spotted or red spotted crab.

    Three spotted or red spotted crab.

    I am interested in this crab.....never caught one never eated one... but I do see them in the fish shops.

    I also note that there is a legal limit of 100mm for this crab but it never seems to be mentioned in general.

    I am wondering where they are generaly caught.

    I also note that the named this crab is generaly known as are listed as being obsolete and to be callsed "sand crab".... and "sand crab" is listed as being obsolete for the " blue swimmer crab"....... what the.

    You get alot in the deeper channels over near the nth end of Moreton Is. eg 25m deep, you also can get sandies in this area aswell. They eat fine , sweet like a sandie!

    they are ok to eat, but I had always used the standard measure - to small to bother otherwise

    They are predominately found in very deep water offshore.
    There is a mob down Lyton way that have a breeding factory set up down there.
    There great bait for blackspots
