starlo pro lures (jack attack) - absolute rubbish

i recently purchased 3 of the starlo jack lures from B C F
the first one we tried wouldnt dive and just twisted and curled around on the top as though the line had been caught up in the hooks ......but it hadnt.

so i tried a few more times but no go, so i then tried to retune the lure,
well no go there either, no matter what you do..
so i left it at that and went back to another lure,

the next trip i had the other two onboard and low and behold they did the same thing......so basicaly they were a waste of money..

do you think bcf would exchange in this instance...?
    any insight..

    cheers,

    Ben

I've had similar experiences from these lures, even when you do manage to get them swimming straight they have pretty much no action anyway. If you sift throught the different styles you'll find that only a couple actually work (one of the bream baits and the walk the dog top water) and even then the hooks need replacing. I wanted to use then as a sought of "disposable" lure when land based snag bashing for up north but wirly birds don't catch many fish. If you go back and make a fair point about them not swimming you should at least get store credit.

there no way they would get my money for a second rate product.
by law they have to replace it and should do so with a smile.

i have not tried them but i have tried the starlo pencil poppers and they seem to work well they have a good walk the dog action and the trevs love em . if its a faulty product they should exchange or refund them .

They look like shit to begin with.............

Those boys are hocking their names for all it's worth these days. When the Starlo's first came out I was amazed at the similarity of the rubbish Chinese Gladiator brand "fighting minnow" (I think it was) and one of the Starlo brand. Without a doubt from the same Chinese factory.

I don't mind some of the Squidgie range but for the most part they were pretty crap. Cheap chinese stuff, marketed well with a few big names behind them. They would have made a fortune and now they are cashing in.

Another example of a Fishing personality lending his name ( possibly helped develop it) & they turn out to be rubbish poor Average Joe fishoe ..... sees Starlos name on em - & thinks "you beauty they must be good"
Honestly though ...... have a close look at them ( even in the packet) & most look like rubbish - certainly the barra ones

I agree with wat everyone else has wrote above.. Try shopping at more of your local tackle shops where they dont just place stock on shelves too make money they actually will give the right advice for the fishing your doing.. I have had plenty of problems wit that shop and advice.

Its a shame to see these guys doing this to the people that look up to them as most fisherman do..

Re: starlo pro lures (jack attack) - absolute rubbish

I've got a few starlo lures...

The 'bream bait' is EXACTLY down to the smallest detail the same as a Tsunami 'Super Bream' (I own both), which is a cheap and nasty lure for sure.

I've caught a couple of fish on the walk the dog lure which has a reasonable action and the blunt nose also allows it to put out a reasonable POP.

The rest look like shit, I won't buy them again.

I guess I got sucked into the name on the box and the 3 for $20 deal.. I should have just bought an SX-40 haha.. Next time, next time.

hmm thanks for all the advice so far,

i didnt think they looked too bad in the box...
they are no sx40 but hey they didnt look far behind in terms of condtruction and paint. I thought for around $10 each they would be ok at least,

    they are un unsable,

so do you think i take em back...>?

Maybe you should enlighten Starlo as to the problem as I'm not sure he would have actually used one himself I think you would get a response too and explain you bought the lures on the back of his expertise You may even get some replacements or something for your misfortune .... hopefully not more Starlo Lures ... if it looks too good to be true then it usually is. Keep us all imformed of what happens.

Thats an excellant sugestion matt. Starlo puts his name to the lure, no doubt he takes a cut off each one sold, let him know the product he appears to be backing is shite.

I have had the same troubles with the Pro Range Slick Rigs on Barra. You get 2 in every pack which actually body roll correctly and have strong tail action, the rest are rubbish. Definatly feel ripped off. Problem is that they are great plastics for barra.

    Ha!, Crusty brand lures (Simpsons).
