    Freshwater Fishing Guide around Brisbane

She who must be obeyed is tired of eating squire and now has a hankering for yellowbelly or perch( how can I be so lucky) . Does anybody know of a good guide for our local dams that will shorten my learning curve for freshwater species? I have fished in outback streams before but not dams and not with lures either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark.

    Not sure if this is still current but might get you onto him. found a reference to him here;

    http://www.fishingmonthly.com.au/Are...iven/0112.html

"All my information for the Bjelke and Boondooma reports comes from Matty Mott, owner/operator of Burnett Valley Sportfishing charters. If you are interested in learning to fish these dams or are chasing the right gear and lures to do the job, see Matty or his wife Gayle at the kiosk at Bjelke (ph. (07) 4168 4811)."

Des Charles used to do charters on Somerset and Hinze I think, not sure if he still does?

Steve Wilkes at Sports Tuition 0403154510 Does Hinze dam in canoes or quintrex travellers. Half day $65 with morning tea provided. Likes mininium of 6 ( I think) and will combine to make up a group.
Very rare for him to have a fishless day.
He also runs weekend trips for father and son , mother and daughter and also kids adventure camps.
He is also starting to use Maroon dam a bit for his camps but I dont know about charters there.
I have been on his charters and a couple of his weekend camps and really enjoyed them.
Dont know anywhere else that you can get a half day fishing trip for $65.
    His website is www.#############.com.au .
looks like the dreaded censor has jumped in so try sports tuition without the gap.
    Cheers

ps this is from his website.
If you haven't experienced the magic of Hinze Dam and freshwater fishing, then now is the time, when experiencing the Sports Tuition tour. Picture yourself motoring along in a Rosco Bass Catcher Canoe or a Quintrex 370 Traveller. All craft are powered by Minn Kota electric motors. The water is smooth and somewhat glass-like.
Using a Humminbird Matrix portable sounder you can locate the schools of fish and then drop a line down with a live shrimp attached. The predominant species in Hinze Dam is Australian bass, which strike hard. The rod bends, and you're on. Fishing in this idyllic setting is something everyone should experience so book your freshwater fishing adventure today.

Hinze Dam is stocked with Australian bass, yellowbelly, saratoga, silver perch and Mary River cod.

Re: Freshwater Fishing Guide around Brisbane

    Folks,

Most sweetwater guides are listed on http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/guides.htm

Motty charters on Lake Barambah & Lake Boondooma.

Jason E doesn't charter any more. He did Cressbrook & Cooby Dams??.

Des Charles is long gone back to Tassie. He never had a permit to operate on Lake Somerset, he did Hinze & Clarrie Hall. He sold out a while back. Unsure as to the status of the current owner.

Greenfish Charters used to run on Moogerah & Maroon Dams. However Harry is onto other things & isn't guiding ATM.

There's not alot of bass guides in SEQ these days.

My advice is to either drive up to Boondooma to go with Motty or get into a fishing club & attend a trip or go to one of the various comps around the traps.

    Cheers,
