    What fish is this ?

    Some of my friends went fishing to the Gneerings last week and caught this fish,any ideas what it is ? And for all you fishing inspectors out there yes it was released to fight again another day.

    it is a crimson fusilier and when they die their belly goes red

    they are only just okay to eat ,,better in Thai style

    they hang around reef areas in big schools

    Don't know sorry, they've got beautiful colours and a nice tail too did he/she pull hard?

    Thanks for your information,i normally work to a pollicy that if i don't know what it is then i let it go. Maybe try it for a live bait if i catch one some day.

    Usually GT's, Spaniards and just about anything else big hangs around those fusilier schools. Good livie.

    yeah, definately a fusillier. they school up in their 1000's up here and i've got an image on my sounder of a big fish breaking up the school.

    like the others said, they are suppose to be the bees knees for live mackeral bait.
