    Sorry for such a late reply. I haven't checked this thread for a long time and missed your question. I'm not 100 percent sure but I think that is called a white sturgeon. Diamond back may be another name for it though. I don't know for sure.

    No freshwater fish ever went 1000lb not ever! the biggest freshwater fish species are the Wels catfish some big south American carp like fish called the Piracau, or the Mekong catfish, they can't decide, the Mekong catfish currently holds the record, and that fish didn't reach 500lb let alone 1000lb

    How would they land it? Were they using 1000 lb line? and how would they get it into the boat??
