Need blank advice

Gday Folks

I'm looking for a blank that will be used for downrigging and bait soaking in Morteon bay. Something around 7-8ft,,, 6-8kg fast action. Price around $100.

Your suggestions welcome.

more imfo needed what ya fishin for spinin or castin reel graphite fiberglass or composit are ya sportfishin or just out for a feed

Ryan It will have a spin reel on it. A bit of live baiting on the DR around beacons or a floater out the back. As for material, don't know yet, having a look around the web.

Came across a Samurai S008, Do you have a opinion on this blank?

mate a soo8 is a nice blank have a look at the nv8 this is what i use for snapper fishin etc landed some pretty decent fish onit they are only seven foot

Had a look at the nv8, that's getting up into the 10kg range which i have a rod for.

What I'm trying to do is fill a void in my arsenal in the 6-8kg range.

nv7 is 6'1 could be a tad short. What difference is there between the s008 and the nv series?

the Soo8 is waht your after i think,
7', 1 pc, 6-8kg and fastish taper...
the NV8 is a 6-10 rating and is a tad more parabolic in taper...great popper blank...

Is there different ratings in the S008 I've found sites that says they are 4-6 kg. Yet other sites say 6-8kg. What gives?

the RBC 008 has been renamed to the S008... same blank, direct from the wholesale catalogue 'Soo8 = 6-8kg' i tend to see 20lb braid run over them MOST of the time...

Decided on a Matrix blank AMMBC843.

I emailed ozrods and within 20 mins i got a reply, Simon doesn't stock the emerald ones, so the order is in and should be here from the US 7-11 days. Then the fun starts. Which reel seat,which guides,which grips,what color thread AAARRGGGGG.

Looking forward to it though, been a while since i built one.
