    boat maker info sought

    I have a 4.95 mtr pressed alloy cc and am seeking info re the manufacturer's whereabouts if still in the business. I've done google searches and asked around but can't get much info. The boat is 1997 (guesswork as that is the year of the Yammie motor and trailer) and has the name Southwind on both sides (only previous one's I had heard of are frp). Near the stern are the letters SC 4.95. The rego label says Southern Cross SB495. The manufacturer's id label in the boat reads Southwind Marine Products Pty Ltd; made by Mayfairs Wholesale Pty Ltd. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I posted this thread about a year ago and am hoping for more info as last time most responses were about the glass boats called Southwind.

    Hi greyfox,

    have never seen a "Southwind" alloy boat, but seems it was the same Southwind that produced the glass boats.

    "In September 1989, Yamaha commenced production of fiberglass boats at its new subsidiary company, Southwind Marine Products Pty. Ltd. Located at Ourimbah, north of Sydney ."

    According to ASIC records Southwind Marine Products Pty Ltd was deregistered in 2004 (page 50);

    I f you look at the bottom of this boat test you will see their old contact details;

    Here are some links for possible contact details for Mayfairs Wholesale Pty Ltd;

    And this one is for MayFairs Marine which seems to be at the same location as the first link above;

    Thanks Outsider1. The info was very handy to know. Uncanny that one appears for sale on this site as I ask for info. It's only the second one I've seen. Mine came from Nth Qld so they were apparently widely available at some time.

    Yep, but they were bought out by Stessl a few years ago, before they went under. If you contact whoever they call themselves now (Mako Craft i think), they might be able to help. Give them your HIN #, if not on your MDP, it should be stamped on the STB gunnel at the transom, or on the top RH of the transom itself.
    cheers

    Southwind alum boats also used to be made by the old Sportsfish mob early in the piece. They got a bit expensive so Mayfairs ended up with the contract.
