Good morning fellow seafarer owners. I’ve a 2000 model V-Sea with the following problem.
The surround of the glovebox area is starting to pull away. What I think is happening is that over time the plywood structure of the cover is breaking down and the bolt heads are pulling through the plywood.
Has anyone else had this occur and if so what have you done to fix the problem.
I know that I could get new made but just asking question

Yep same thing happened to mine. I just ripped it off pulled bolts out and left it off for good
It is a ply panel with some vinyl and foam over? most of that stuff is built the same regardless of manufacturer. If you want it new, take it off, strip the vinyl off, use the existing ply for a template. Cut a new bit, get some vinyl, thin foam and contact adhesive, do it yourself. Not hard at all.
Howdy all.
Has anyone put a wave breaker on there seafarers.
Been thinking about it mostly due to the trip back to the ramp often has 1/4 on seas that can make it a wet trip for about 60km.
Love to here everyone's thoughts.
Cheers

Hi Stue2
Option one Carry more heavy batteries at the transom to lift the bow
option two Fit really heavy new motors and maybe a third to lift the bow
option three Check this out and get you FRP guy busy so something can be fitted above the glass top and maybe extend up above forward of the clears

Anything else happening yet or is the border wall slowing things down?
Cheers

If you need to fit a wave breaker instead of a standard windscreen I think you need a better boat or better driving style.
Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.
Hi mate.
I think the motors will arrive before the border opens back up.
They are due in the next few weeks.
And it's not looking likely that the glass work will even be ready.
Never mind. Get there eventually.
Plenty of time to think of what ever else I would like to do I spose.
The wave breaker idea came after looking at the new 6m Edencraft.
Would love a ride in one of those

Actually I am wondering if the guys that have wave breakers on their boats think that it's an advantage to have them.

Stu, I’m not a fan of wave breakers, and yes I’ve a seafarer v-sea 5 metre with a 115 on the back, so I understand your not liking the weather when coming home. Over the years I’ve had the occasional wave over the windscreen, it’s not nice but makes me concentrate and be wary of the conditions.
I’m not talking about you, but I really think that most people with them, get them because they could be bothered driving their boat to the conditions, as they are always in a hurry.
Yes a long trip home into wind and chop can be uncomfortable, but slow and steady wins the race.
Really the choice is yours.
Good luck with whichever way you go.
What seafarer do you have?

Thanks mate.
I have a vagabond and in the process of repowering with twin 115 pro xs ct.
Should be a good set up I think.
I have worked out over the years that if I lean the boat away from the oncoming sea it dry's right out without affecting the ride too much at all.
The trip is south and the seas are south westerly so can be ordinary in any boat.
I have made the trip in a few boats over the years and some are just awful to be in in those seas.
The vag does it pretty well compared to some at least.
Cheers
Stu
