    Singapore Fishing

I have a short stop over in Singapore for 2 nights, just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience buying Tackle or Marine electronics whilst over there?
Is it cheaper, waranty risks, shops to look, places to go for or even duty free, any information is appreciated???

Hey Captain, i went there in 06, and most of the stuff there is about or near the same price as here, i searched around for tackle lures etc and couldn't find anything, apart from some very cheap combos, whcih were jarvis walker quality. You may be able to find some at the local markets but i didn't have any luck.

    Good luck

    Captain:

Not too much value but with the dollar a bit stonger you might save a buck or two. However if you see something you are not sure about and it is cheap then play by the old adage "If it's too cheap to be true....."

    Check out this site http://www.handlinefishing.com/whosf...sdirectory.htm

    And here as well. http://hwee_surfcast.tripod.com/Sing...ckleStores.htm

I have purchased from 5 Dots in the past and their prices, service and range were excellent.

As a matter of fact I will be in Singapore in March myself.

Yeah just 2 nights on our way back from Sri Lanka, I know some of the Japanese on line shop prices are hard to beat so thought I would do a little research before I left

There are some deals to be had in Singapore, but few and far between. There are some fishing shops that you can easily get to on Beach Rd. Just get a taxi to the Plaza Park Royal hotel (Next to Gateway Towers) on Beach Road and then cross over and walk around to see some tackle shops (Not very big ones though)

I would say however, that with only 2 days its a pretty tight schedule.

You will tend to find some big lures there pretty cheap by comparison, especially hard bodies and teasers.

Refer to the map in this link (posted above) to see the list of fishing tackle shops near beach rd. http://www.handlinefishing.com/whosf...sdirectory.htm

Mate, there's a few tackle stores on Beach Rd. The price will depend on what you are after. I saved a bit of money on a shimano calcutta and antares(calais), that was back in '05. Mustard hooks, fireline and some lures were considerably cheaper than oz. just ask for the "best" price. They'll give you some sort of discount.
