Nice squires and they are decent size at nights...I mostly fish in the dawn thats why I'm using plastic...
'A' - Excellent
'B' - Good
'C' - just OK
'D' - Poor! fish harder for 2008
I fished Mud island quite a fair bit last lear, mostly through winter though. The best I caught out there in one session was 3 Snapper, all around the 10lb mark. I've never caught the bag limit in one session.
There are a lot of shovelies, catfish and grinners if you're bait fishing.
The soft plastics out there seem to be quite productive, but only at the right times/tides. Caught a lot of estuary cod, school mackerel, tailor, sweetlip and of course squire and the odd snapper.
If the weather's good, I'll tend to favour heading out the the west side of the island, but the dropoff's on the east side can be just as productive (if not better).

i rate the year as good...but i only really fish for these
I fished mud quite a bit this year. Had pretty good results on the northern end.
Biggest was a 7.5kg snapper. Got many around late 50cm to 60cm.
Whiting heads and red meat.
Cheers
