An hour before or after dawn or dusk, preferably combined with a tide change.
Fresh bait fished in an area out of the main current, or where the structure of the beach causes the main run to be reversed or stopped.
Large hooks and sinkers with large strip baits, plichards or squid for salmon, tailor or mulloway.
Whiting, dart and beam in the same spots during the day, on beachworms, pipies, nippers if the surf is flat. Bream and dart will take strips/chunks of fish flesh also.
Beach rod set-up with reel of your choice, 10-15' for the big stuff, 8kg line will do,
8-12' with 4-7kg for the smaller fish.
Alveys are a great reel to start beach fishing with, 6-61/2" for big fish, 5-6" for smaller fish.
    Cheers.

fish dawn and dusk for salmon and tailor. Lightly weighted is good if the conditions allow. But i will use a size 6-7 ball sinker in a bit of swell and current or wind.

check out the rigs of the locals. Because if they are setting their baits and you decide to run yours you will get into a lot of tangles.

Another tip, resist striking the fish, as the hooks will probably pull. Instead when you feel a bit of weight start winding and apply gradual pressure.

    cheers and good luck
