    Kingey parasite?

    BenatCoffs writes about Ywllowtail Kingfish
"... when temp is under 20 deg as they get a parasite that makes the flesh go mushy when cooked in warmer water temps. I'd never keep a summer king ..."

Is this the same for up here in southern Qld?

    Re: Kingey parasite?

Yeah mate usually about two in ten fish suffer this problem and there's no way of telling till their cooked but i find the problem mainly occurres in the shallower water as the deeper water fish seem to be better, i've tried getting an explanation out of some experts but no reseach has been done into it as to the reason, all i've heard is that the parasites descete an enzime into the flesh that causes the flesh to go mushy when heated, but the area's south of about coffs harbour don't get this problem all i can assume is that the fish that are in a warmer water temp for a longer period through out the season get affected and those south of this temperate zone seem to be okay.
