I have no idea what size real to put on it, any tips on reals or fish best targeted with what i have would be most welcome.

    Hi Mitch,

Amazing no one has replied to you.

This is a difficult one to answer as there are many brands and types of reels around ranging from about $200 -$1000. It depends on how often you are going to use it and what you are tageting. As always "quality lasts". If you are snooping around teh estuaries, then the bottom end range will be OK as you will not meet "lineburners" like macks and tuna which need A1 drags etc. Best thing is to read previous posts on this site, or look on web for specialist fly shops as to whats avaliable.

I would go for a large arbor holding 300m of 20-30lb braid backing + 9wt fly line, and there is another web thread, which line for what you need, as they go form floating, to sink tip to sinking that will bomb the depths at 50-60' down.

There are some good books around. Peter Morse and others

    Good luck

    N
