Hey, heading up to Hervey Bay from 18 - 21 Oct and I really want to score my first Golden Trevally...have only ever got small Silvers to date.
What's a good rig and bait set-up?

I was thinking mainly of chasing them with bait

most people up there target them on fly but i spose useing some of the same looking artificials they use to catch them might work
A nice pillie or peice of fleash bait seems to get them going.

live whiting go well or large herring off the urangan pier
Anything live that can be jigged from the plylons at M2 & M4 beacons on the way to fairway bouy. Yakka's, slimies, sand trevalley or even rainbows have all worked for me. Chrome slugs dropped to the bottom if you find a bait ball works well too.
