Does anybody bother fishing the big tides offshore, around islands etc?

Mate it makes life very difficult, especially in the deeper channels around the islands. Haven't fished OFFSHORE offshore to answer that one though. you can fish the window periods, but then the time in the water makes a long trip not really worthwhile. try hugging the shoreline more in really big phases when near the islands.

Also from Mackay area. When you think about the run we have up here it makes it just about impossible during this time.

Makes you mad when you realise after this coming weekend the following one is a clsoed period for reef fish.

I would normally only fish during the neap tides. Then again, unfortunately I don't get to go too far as my deckie prefer to stay insight of land.
