    G'Day Mike,

    G'Day Mike

From all reports there are plenty of salmon on Sth beach at the present. YLast time I was on the beach you could drive all the way down to Evans Head (low tide) and theres plenty of good water to fish. There some coffee rock about 2/3's of the way down the beach towards Evans were you should be able to pick up a feed of bream and maybe a schoolie. Should also be few choppers still kicking around.
Have a look in some of the melon hole country for a flathead.
River wise if your bank bound then just upriver from the ferry are some deeper holes.

As a warning make sure you have your seatbelt on when driving on the beach, apparently the boys in blue have been giving some of the beachfishos a hard time lately. One chap in particular had his wife booked on fathers day for not wearing a seat belt while driving on the beach. $235 later he was not a happy father on fathers day!

    G'day Mike.

Would agree with Stonecold. Access the beach along the unsurfaced track just past the second camp site. Watch for the soft sand as you hit the beach.

There is some structure on either side as you hit the beach and as Stonecold says plenty more along the beach. You can also try fishing worms for schoolies onto the sand bank just out from the beach next to the south Wall.

Salmon around at the moment, a school in the river at Missingham bridge yesterday.

    Re: South Ballina Beach

Generally I find the Gutters just north of the coffee rocks seem to be the best formed with good depth at low tide and easier to cast to at high. Access just north of Broadwater is the quickest way to that end of the beach.

In the river, there are many places land based to have a go. If you are on the south side already then flicking from the porpoise wall is a good spot with a number of species along the rocks and sandflats to target. Heading north to Sevenmile, flatrock and boulders are a few options if South Ballina is not producing.

Just a note for local and visiting fisho's. Keep in mind that the Pied Oyster Catcher is breeding till December along South Ballina to Evans and soon the chicks will be coming down to the high tide mark. These little chicks are near impossible to see and and have a habit of sitting/hiding in wheel tracks. National Park have already tried to close the beach due to these breeding birds and can be guaranteed to try again. So try and drive below the high tide mark. Dont drive on high tide along the beach (you should have a bait in the water at this time anyway). Obey the signs that are marked as no stop zones due to a nest in that area. Keep dogs off the beach (Dog area runs a couple of kms north of Evans only) and if you see any yahoo's breaking the law, driving on dunes and basically providing ammo for the greens to close the place down to 4wd access either have a friendly word to them if you are comfortable doing so or pass the rego details onto police or me through PM.
