Thread: Line for tuna

    Line for tuna

Was wondering what you guys out here who chase tuna in the bay would recommend for throwing flys at them. I will only fish for them when they are schooling on the surface. I am looking at the saltwater clouser intermediate line. Is that the right choice?

    Cheers

hey man, ive caught a few tuna on an 8-9wt outfit with a cheap intermediate line by scientific anglers. when theyre on the surface going nuts it probably doesnt matter too much. shooting heads might be good tho. hooked them on homemade epoxy head imitations with heaps of blue white & red flash. damn good fun!!

Buy yourself the RIO Saltwater - same price as the clouser but an intermediate with about 10ft of clear section on the front end. Beatiful line to cast. It'll cost you $102 from Fishead tackle at Redland Bay. The Saltwater is also better for throwing a long line.
