Question Can someone explain this to me???

I just had a gander at the SEQWater site to see how much the dams have come up and found this. Can someone explain to this simple sucker what the go is??

One thing to remember with these storages is we are continuously drawing from these reserves 24/7 at a pretty steady rate overall. If we get 100mm of rain overt the catchement you must take off the daily water drawdown to see how much benefit you have gained. 100mm could equate to a bonus of 80mm for the days rainfall.

The maintenance schedule for statistics is set for every morning for a single update for the day. You can not expect todays rainfall to appear before tomorrow statistics result.

Yep true Jack they update every day and there's no way todays rain could be counted in the latest tally.
But it rained yesterday didn't it??
On the radio yesterday I was hearing that a dam got 35mm on it and then the official site says 1mm....somethings not quite right.
Yep fair enough that is was readings until 9.00am this morning but it rained yesterday and as I said a dam had 35mm according to the radio. It was definitely more then 1mm.
That does not account for what would be flowing into the dams either I might add.
I suppose the real test is tomorrow's report eh

Re: Can someone explain this to me???

Scotty, perhaps its due to the absorption rate ? ie the ground was so dry that they reckon they needed about 50mm's of rain just to so the run off into the dam can start.
Well thats what they said in the paper

the rainfall quoted is 24hrs to 9am. most of the rainfall started in the afternoon. the rainfall totals on the site today are 24, 7 and 13mm.
