Each to their own I reckon.
Most people would think me nuts for spending over $300 for a set of screwdrivers but I don't care what others think. I wanted them, needed them, got them and use them all the time. They're about 10X the price you can get a set of Stanley's that'll do the job but...The expense was well worth it in my books.
If I wanted to or needed or able to get one (Stella or Salti) I would as I don't drink, don't smoke, don't do much anything (and everybody needs at least a couple of ways to throw money away) and if I needed a reel to do the job then I would get one.
Horses for causes...quality does usually mean costing more and usually quality lasts longer and you tend to use it more just because it's so nice to use and no hassles.
I might buy one one day just for the smoooothness of the reels. I'll probably never get to use them to the full extent of their capabilities but I love that quality feeling instead of the rough, gravelly feel and noise of some other reels I have
Mind you though. This is from a person who still loves and prefers the old $10 4" Alvey for estuary fishing
