Will it live.
I have wondered about this for some time and maybe some of you might be able to answer this. Now lets say for some reason or another, a fish loses its scales due to whatever reason. Do the scales grow back or will the fish just simply die.
Years ago a man went to scale his bream. He already ran the knife up the breams body removing 20 or 30 or so and then decided to release it. I didn't say anything, but wondered if the fish had a chance.

Losing a few scales will not kill a fish in most situations.
I have caught a few fish with "battle scars"
The problem is when the slime covering the scales/skin is rubbed of. This slime protects fish from fungal/bacterial infections and when damaged often will lead to infection.
